Course Approval

If you are building a new online course, begin by reviewing Butte's approval process for teaching online. Only instructors approved to teach online will be scheduled for online courses.

All courses have required content for their syllabi; online courses have a few additional requirements.  This is a checklist of the all the requirements for the online syllabus.

On Campus Support

Technology Mediated Instruction provides training and support for faculty use of Canvas. TMI also provides:

• Instructional design (planning & development of courses)
• Assistance in implementing Principles of Quality Online Teaching
• Accessibility support
• Bulk document scanning & PDF remediation
• Evaluation of external content (i.e. OER, LTI, publisher, etc.)
• Importing of traditional format quizzes/tests into Canvas
• You can also request a meeting for individualized support.

Trainings in Course Design

There are many training opportunities to help you design your online courses:

• @ONE (The Online Network of Educators) offers 4-week facilitated courses that can be used to earn a Certificate in Online Teaching & Design.
• @ONE also offer self-paced trainings on course design.
• TMI provides workshops throughout the semester.
